From 6th – 10th October, 2016, Ha Noi 2016 Book Festival with the theme “Book and Integration” organized by the People’s Committee of Ha Noi City, the Department of Information and Communications has opened at Hoang Thanh Thang Long, Ha Noi. As the cultural activity to celebrate 62 years of Capital Liberation (10/10/1954 - 10/10/2016), also marking Viet Nam’s over 20-year journey of joining the Association of Southeast Asian Nations – ASEAN and almost a year of ASEAN Community’s formal establishment, Ha Noi 2016 Book Festival has brought together 168 booths of 46 publishers, the country’s leading book companies with the participation of 20 prestigious publishing groups and units coming from 12 countries around the world, including the Publishing Associations of ASEAN and other member countries.
Within the framework of the Book Festival, the National Library of Vietnam (NLV) and Ha Noi Publishing House have joined the Documentary exhibition "Ha Noi with ASEAN countries." The exhibition features over 700 books, nearly 20 typical names of newspapers and magazines selected from the nation’s written legacy capital which is now being stored at the NLV under 4 key issues: A thousand year of civilization and heroic Ha Noi; ASEAN capitals; ASEAN - The process of formation and development; Viet Nam's role in ASEAN. Including the edition collection of Thang Long – Ha Noi released by Ha Noi Publishing House.
Through the displayed materials, alongside useful and comprehensive information on culture, history, life of Ha Noi; reviewing and deepening the historical significance of the Capital Liberation Day, the exhibition offers the general public the abundant sources about the ASEAN Community, ASEAN countries, affirming the role of Viet Nam in ASEAN community, contributing to strengthening the spirit of cooperation, friendship and integration to develop the solidarity and dynamism of ASEAN community.
